Growing Year-Round with an EasyBuild Polytunnel
Andrew, a grower based in North Yorkshire, recently shared his EasyBuild journey with us. His photos document the full process, from a bare plot of soil to a thriving, productive growing space. Andrew uses his polytunnel to grow a bit of everything — plants, fruit, veg, herbs, and flowers — making the most of the sheltered space all year round.
It’s a perfect example of what’s possible with a bit of space, the right structure, and a passion for growing.
From Bare Soil to Bursting Beds
Andrew opted for an EasyBuild tunnel with a sliding aluminium door at one end, a zip-up PVC door at the other, and a clear polythene cover. It looks like he made use of the simple, bolt-together steel frame to get his structure up quickly and cleanly: no timber, no warping, no rot.
Once covered, he surrounded the structure with membrane and a neat soil border, giving it a clean, finished look that blends into the surrounding landscape.
The interior is laid out for productivity and comfort. A potting bench stands at one end, and the full length of the tunnel is flanked by raised beds, overflowing with tomatoes, basil, marigolds, courgettes, and more.
A Weatherproof Growing Space for All Seasons
North Yorkshire isn’t known for calm weather. But the EasyBuild’s galvanised steel frame, combined with UV-stable polythene, gives growers a reliable space that stands up to wind, rain, and cold.
Even in the wetter months, it’s a place to retreat, tend to seedlings, or harvest herbs and greens without stepping foot into soggy soil.
One of the standout photos Andrew shared shows the EasyBuild frame before the cover went on, and it’s a reminder of what sets our tunnels apart. The all-metal construction, made from heavy-duty galvanised steel, is designed to withstand decades of use, even in exposed locations like this one in North Yorkshire.
With no timber to rot, warp, or split over time, Andrew’s frame forms the backbone of a structure that won’t let him down. It’s low maintenance, solid in high winds, and built with longevity in mind, so when it does come time to replace the cover, the frame will still be going strong.
Wildlife and Flowers Outside, Productivity Inside
Just outside the tunnel, wildflowers and nectar-rich plants provide habitat for pollinators. It’s a reminder that a productive growing space doesn’t have to come at the expense of biodiversity, and that a well-placed polytunnel can work in harmony with the surrounding garden.
Why EasyBuild Works
While we can’t speak for Andrew directly, we know many of our customers choose EasyBuild for similar reasons:
- No timber, no rot: A fully steel frame means long-term durability and no warping
- Quick, DIY-friendly assembly: Bolt-together simplicity with minimal fuss
- Sliding aluminium doors: Smooth access and better ventilation
- UK-made strength: Built to British Standards using 50mm x 25mm oval profile steel tubing
With the right setup, it becomes more than a growing space, it becomes a sanctuary for year-round growing.
