Designed to BSI Standards

Britain’s Toughest Polytunnel? We know that’s a bold claim but we back it it up. 💪

Our frames are made to BSI Standards (BS EN 13031), our exclusive oval tubing is designed for serious strength, and our tensioning system keeps the polythene drum-tight – so there’s less chance of it flapping, tearing, or giving in to the great British weather.*

Features and Benefits

Polythene Tensioning System Simple system that allows the polythene to be tightened and loosened as required throughout the season.
Two ridge bars come as standard with your polytunnel, ensuring strength, rigidity and convenient crop and hanging supports.
Available in Clear or Diffused. Clear for maximum heat and 92% light transmission Diffused for 90% light transmission, reduced temperatures and a more even scattering of light deeper into the canopy of the plants within the tunnel.
3 in 1 PVC Zipped Door A popular choice for its versatility. Can be zipped open and rolled up out of the way. A Velcro panel can be partially opened to reveal a ventilation panel or fully removed for increased air flow in the tunnel.
All new high tensile flat-sided oval tube profile, offer significant strength increases over round profiles. Galvanised for superior corrosion resistance. No storm braces necessary!
Galvanised steel base rails full metal construction for longevity and simple polythene fixing using our Wiggle Wire system. No rotten timber or woodwork skills required.
Foundation Types – Screw Anchors are by far our most popular option, suitable for most soil types, especially clay and are very easy to install – simply screw into the ground. For additional strength and security or on ground with a high stone content or loose soil that has been recently disturbed our screw anchors can also be concreted into the ground. Base plate foundations are available for those wishing to fix their polytunnel onto a concrete base.
Anti-Hot Spot Tape Supplied as standard – acts as an insulation between the metal and the polythene to prevent the build up of damaging hot spots and prolong the cover life of your polythene sheet
Sliding Door Available as a single 0.8m sliding door or a 1.7m double sliding door. Full Aluminium construction, quick and easy to build.
Our EasyBuild, but completely re-engineered – all new design and manufacturing advancements. Fewer components make our EasyBuild even easier to build, offer significant strength increased as well as more convenient curb-side delivery in a single consignment.
Quick & Easy Covering – Our Wiggle Wire fixing system is quick and easy, making it perfect for first time polytunnel builders and seasoned pros alike.

High-Strength Oval Tube Hoops

What makes the EasyBuild’s oval tube hoops stronger than round tube?

EasyBuild’s new 4-piece hoops are made from 50 x 25mm high-tensile Flat Sided Oval (FSO) tube, offering a 150% strength increase compared to our previous 32mm round profile.

Unlike traditional round tube hoops – especially those made from 3 or 4 pieces – our oval design doesn’t compromise on strength and doesn’t rely on extra “belts and braces” for support. In fact, many polytunnels on the market use only 25mm round tubing, which offers significantly less resistance to adverse  weather, often requiring additional reinforcement.

Our new oval tube profile delivers exceptional rigidity, giving the EasyBuild superior structural strength and outstanding resilience in adverse weather conditions – without the need for added complexity.

Galvanised Steel Base Rails & Door Frames

Unlike Timber, galvanised steel profiles are free from defects like knots and splits and will be sure to last a lifetime. The galvanised steel profiles are designed to take our wiggle wire fixing system making it fast and simple to attach your polythene. If you need to redo a section of your cover you can simply unclip the wiggle wire, make any adjustments to your polythene and then push the wiggle wire back into place.

Foundation Options

We have a number of foundation options which can be used with our EasyBuild Polytunnel

Screw Anchors

By far our most popular option for their ease and simplicity. They can be used in two ways:

Simply screw into the ground. Suitable for most soil types, especially clay. Avoid only on ground with a high stone content or loose soil which has been recently disturbed.

For additional strength and security you can also concrete in the screw anchors, the additional strength is only necessary in particularly exposed locations. The foundations are installed by digging a hole around 35cm wide and 35cm deep which is then filled with concrete. The corkscrew at the bottom of the foundation tube anchors the ground tube into the concrete.

Base Plates

Used to fix your polytunnel onto a solid concrete base with sleeve anchors. To install simply drill a 80-100mm deep hole with a 10mm masonry drill bit. Then knock the screw anchors through the base plates into the holes and tighten with a 13mm spanner or socket.

Double Ridge Bar as Standard

Positioned at the sides of the polytunnel and running down the length the ridge bars provides stability to the structure and can also be a good place for hanging baskets or crop support.

Our ridge tubes are 25mm diameter and come as standard with your EasyBuild Polytunnel.

Brace Bars

Brace bars, often referred to as crop bars, run across the width of the tunnel and provide additional strength to the structure and an excellent crop support.

We use 25mm bars to provide additional strength to the frame, as well as suitable support for hanging baskets and containers. Brace Bars can be retrofitted if your polytunnel is already built and in use.

Polytunnel Sizes

Widths starting at 2.5m, available in 0.5m increments up to 4.5m (2.5m, 3m, 3.5m, 4m, 4.5m).

Lengths available in 1.5m increments starting at 3m.

Easy Covering & Tensioning

Our all new Easybuild is available with a choice of two polythene fixing options – trenched or fixed to an aluminium base rail using our convenient wiggle wire system.

Our cover tensioning system makes tensioning your polythene throughout the season fast and simple – Loosen the hoop collar, lift the hoop, lift the collar and retighten in place.

We install this simple tensioning system on all our polytunnels because we know how essential maintaining good cover tension is to extending the life of your polythene. Polythene should be pulled taught like a drum skin to prevent it from vibrating in the wind and degrading prematurely.

Durathermic Polythene

Available in either a Clear or Diffused finish.

Diffused Polythene

This UV-open film allows up to 89% light transmission with approximately 95% diffusion. The diffused light penetrates deep into the plant canopy, reducing shading and promoting uniform growth. Ideal for regions with intense sunlight.

Clear Polythene

Allowing up to 92% light transmission with less than 35% diffusion, this clear film is beneficial during the early and later months of the growing season. The increased light and heat can lead to earlier harvesting and extended post-harvest shelf life.

Aluminium Doors

The doors are generally the hardest part to get right when using timber as all the pieces need to be cut accurately and assembled squarely, then when you’ve done all that, hinged doors have a tendency to drop over time.

The Easy Build has a new aluminium sliding door with laser-cut, bolt-together corner plates making it easy to assemble. A brush strip to seal the door and wiggle-wire to make fixing the polythene on the door simple.

Available as a single 0.7m wide sliding door as standard, or you can upgrade to a 1.7m double sliding door for a wider opening.

PVC Zipped Door

A popular choice for its versatility.

Can be zipped open and rolled up out of the way for use as an access door.

A Velcro panel can be partially opened or fully removed to reveal a ventilation panel for increased air flow in the tunnel when the door section is zipped closed.

Anti Hot Spot Tape

Supplied as standard – acts as insulation between the metal and the polythene to prevent the build up of damaging hot spots and prolong the cover life of your polythene sheet.

Side Ventilation

Our all new side ventilation panel gives your EasyBuild Polytunnel even better ventilation, helping you to create the best possible growing environment.

As part of our re-engineered ventilation panel we also incorporated draught exclusion panels at each end of the vent to ensure draughts are kept to a minimum to help maintain higher temperatures during the colder months when your side curtain is closed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a EasyBuild Polytunnel?

Depending on your experience and the size of the structure, an EasyBuild Polytunnel will take 1 – 2 days to construct. It’s best to set aside a weekend and take your time, sheeting your polytunnel must be done on a still day.

We installed a 3m x 4.5m EasyBuild Polytunnel on our plot – it took around 2 days to complete including the time it took to record the process. Watch the video here > How to Build an EasyBuild Polytunnel 2025.

How long will my Polythene last?

Our Durathermic polythene is guaranteed against degradation for 5 seasons*. When well cared for and properly tensioned its likely it will last well beyond this. We know how important well tensioned polythene is, which is why all our polytunnels use our unique polythene tensioning system to ensure you can easily get that drum tight finish season after season.

Do you have any tips or advice to help me buy my first Polytunnel?

There’s lots to consider when purchasing your first polytunnel and we appreciate this may be a little overwhelming. We’ve put together a blog post with our advice for planning your first Polytunnel, you can read it here.

Can I build a Polytunnel on a slope?

Yes, you can build your Polytunnel on a slope. If you can, we would always recommend levelling the ground before installing a tunnel, although it may be hard work it will make the assembly of the tunnel and working inside much easier. That being said, building on a slope can be managed and our polytunnels are designed to take a reasonable slope. It’s typically best to slope down the length of the tunnel instead of across the width as this can make the smooth operation of doors difficult. For more information and tips on building on a slope check out our in-depth guide here.

Do I need any specialist tools or equipment?

Only basic tools are required to construct your Polytunnel, although we would recommend some heavy-duty wire cutters for trimming down wiggle wire.

Why no timber?

Because We Build for the Long Term

Unlike many domestic polytunnels, EasyBuild contains no timber in its construction — and that’s a good thing. While timber may seem like a convenient or traditional choice, it comes with a number of drawbacks that reduce the long-term reliability of your tunnel.

Timber can rot, warp, and weaken over time, especially in damp growing environments. That means more maintenance, shorter lifespan, and potentially costly repairs.

EasyBuild uses a fully galvanised steel frame instead — delivering superior strength, zero rot, and lasting stability, year after year. It’s the same high-spec material we use in our commercial-grade tunnels, trusted by professional growers across the UK.

The result? A stronger, longer-lasting polytunnel that won’t let you down when the weather turns or time takes its toll.

How will my Polytunnel be delivered?

Our all new EasyBuild Polytunnels will be delivered as a single consignment on a pallet, this prevents any parts or boxes being lost in transit. The individual parts can easily be removed once delivered to your address.

We aim to dispatch all EasyBuild Polytunnels within 1-3 working days. Please contact us on 01282 873120 if you require urgent delivery. Note during busy periods, dispatch may take up to 10 days.

What is the difference between Diffused and Clear polythene?

Diffused Polythene

This UV-open film allows up to 89% light transmission with approximately 95% diffusion. The diffused light penetrates deep into the plant canopy, reducing shading and promoting uniform growth. Ideal for regions with intense sunlight.

Clear Polythene

Allowing up to 92% light transmission with less than 35% diffusion, this clear film is beneficial during the early and later months of the growing season. The increased light and heat can lead to earlier harvesting and extended post-harvest shelf life.

Why should I buy an EasyBuild from Northern Polytunnel?

We are a third-generation family business established in 1969 and pride ourselves on striving to supply quality, British made products at the best possible price directly from the manufacturer. We use our industry experience as a supplier of commercial horticultural structures to ensure your Domestic Polytunnels are market leading products you can rely on season after season.

Is Anti-Hotspot Tape included in the price?

Yes, hotspot tape is always included in the price of your polytunnel. The price we quote is always inclusive of all tapes, screws, brackets and fixings you will need to build your Polytunnel, so no nasty surprises after purchase.

*Of course no polytunnel is completely indestructable. Extreme weather is unpredictable, and factors like installations and exposure play a big role. When buildings are being torn apart, even the best polytunnel can only do so much. That said, when the storms roll through and weaker tunnels turn into kites, it’s usually a Northern Polytunnels structure left standing.
