Your basic polytunnel should always have a central ridge bar, but additional ridge bars can be added to either one or both sides of a polytunnel.
They will of course increase the strength a little, but the main use for these is to provide crop support along the length of the polytunnel.
They can be positioned and re-positioned to the most convenient place for the crop you are growing.
Example:
a 15ft polytunnel will need 2 x Swaged 5ft, 1 x Plain 5ft and 4 x Hoop to Ridge Brackets. (one for each hoop)
a 24ft polytunnel will need 3 x Swaged 6ft, 1 x Plain 6ft and 5 x Hoop to Ridge Brackets
The rule of thumb is that you have a swaged ridge tube for every hoop space, except the last hoop space which would be a plain ridge tube.
